I often recommend to people who market their business with their blog to check their feedburner stats. Lately though I’m wondering if I should. As you can see by the attached chart, Feedburner has been really flukey with my subscribers. Anyone else experiencing this with their blog? Or do you know why one day I’d have 6,200 people and another day down to 700 subscribers? And then back up again?

I’ve experienced the problems you’re describing ever since I first started using Feedburner a couple of years ago.
I think that the Google Reader stats are responsible for the huge dips. Whenever I notice that my subscriber count is way below average I check and sure enough, Feedburner isn’t counting anyone from Google Reader (which is ridiculous since Google owns Feedburner).

I believe you’re right… it’s something with Google Reader, that’s where the big dip is in my readership too. Usually Google Reader dominates, but even Bloglines is showing up on my stats right now!
Even though Google owns Feedburner, they bought it from Feedburner a while back.
thanks for leaving a comment!

Glad I found this, there’s lots of people moaning on twitter about it, too.
It’s recent thing for me, but my chart looks very similar to yours, up down up down. Where as for the last 14 months it had been generally steadily increasing (with the odd few either way) now it’s way up, way down daily.
I keep resync-ing mine, which works for a day or so….
Anybody any ideas?
