Hello - quite relevant post and question ... As I'm 'celibataire' it's a little much easy for me - I only try to wake up early ... The most difficult is reading and writing : indeed, I've got my own blog and I've launched a professional blog ... I also write for two other blogs in more of my job ... Good luck ;))
Trying to smile and having the time to have a breath help creativity sometimes ...

Hey Chris - Fantastic panel yesterday with Norma Rist! Now onto making new tools fit into tight schedules. I'm finding that I'm combining my reading time into the early morning. I try to hit the feeds early along with my e-mail and newspaper (combining touch, taste, smell, and brain food). Then I only check in for about 5 minutes (if they are available) during the day. I shut down any interactive activity around 4:30.

PS - I've moved over to netvibes and it's a great way to combine and integrate all my internet news, feeds, and social media. - The only loss was that I missed inserting your RSS feed until this morning - I'm back now!

It seems to me that too many people are obsessing about virtual life at the expense of their real one.

I use two sites to stay in touch with what's happening in my business, LInkedIn and NetVibes, but beyond that count me out on any invitations to join any more. Its all too time consuming, of little value (hardly any compared to the return it generates) and anyway I have a life, a real one so why would I want to invent one in someone's virtual world?

Hey there, Chris! I've wrestled with this one too...and, probably like you, not a week goes by that someone doesn't invite me to some new social networking site.

Like you, I use Google Alerts to keep abreast of "hot topics" (to me), RSS to follow blogs I find relevant (like yours!), and iTunes to download podcasts to my iPhone for listening while traveling and driving.

I like Twitter (when it's working...not much, lately), and use Twhirl instead of going to the Twitter site.

And for social networking, I follow the Rule of Three - two that I find useful (at the moment it's LinkedIn and Twitter), and one that I'm experimenting with and the jury's still out on (at the moment, Facebook). If I adopt the third, it has to be good enough to replace one of the two permanent ones, so I never have more than three. I just can't handle more than that without it feeling like a huge suck on my time, even if I do count some of it toward my marketing time!
