Market Research is Necessary to Measure what a Community Needs

In some industries, it is required that an organization does a needs assessment for the community.

For example, as part of the Affordable Care Act, all non-profit hospitals are required by the IRS to conduct a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment every three years or be subject to a large excise tax.

Before launching a new program, service or product, you’re smart if you do a needs assessment. Being sure of the need in the community is a surefire recipe for success… and in the case of nonprofit hospitals, it’s an every-three-year requirement.
