Every day I get hit with questions from potential advertisers and potential guest authors.

“Are you interested in running advertising on your blog? Are you interested in a guest post?”

I tend to answer all of these questions the same kind of response…

It’s just I don’t believe that you, the reader, once to see advertising or wants to read a guest post.

Am I wrong?!? I’d like to hear your opinion in the comment section below. Let me know if 1)how you feel about accepting advertising on this blog or 2) how you feel about guest authors on this blog.

Bottom line: would unsubscribe if/when you saw a guest post and/or advertising?

I’ll be interested to read your comments — and thanks in advance for leaving a comment! You don’t have to login with the website or even leave your real name, if you are too shy to do that.

But I would repeat appreciate a response. Thanks!!

Content is king. If it’s good and useful, I’m happy to see it regardless of the author. Guests posts on a blog should enhance or add to the discussion. As far as ads, meh. They’re everywhere-so kinda hard to avoid. I expect them wherever I go on the Web and just ignore stuff that’s not relevant to me. But no pop-ups - those are the worst!

I wouldn’t unsubscribe, but I may skip that post. I agree with Joni’s comments. Depends on the “intended” audience - and who know’s the needs/wants of that group better than the publisher.

    Joni -
Thank you for your comments - I think you’re right about how “good and useful” the information is. Many of the authors want agreement before I’ve seen what they’ve written. I’ve tried a couple of times and then been disappointed with the results. Too many people are just trying to write “content” but not thinking about the reader, just thinking about the benefirs to the writer.

    Thanks again.

Guest authors could either enrich your blog or send people to the unsubscribe button. I think the key to this is how relevant their post is and will it enhance your blog! I’d be happy to hear from guest authors providing it’s relevant. Adverts and pop-ups are definitely a no go for me too!
